Hawaii: Part 4

On Thursday morning we woke up early and caught a plane from Maui to Honolulu where we would stay for the next couple of days.  The resort there was incredible as well!

Check out this view from the resort!

The resort had it's own private man-made bay, though I preferred the open ocean.

Steph riding some waves--she got really good at surfing while we were there. ;)

Here we are having lunch at the resort before going for a swim.  Aren't you not supposed to do that?  :)

After swimming we got ready and made our way to the Laie, Hawaii temple and the Polynesian Cultural Center.

The drive was incredible!  It's so green there!

I was so excited to take pictures of this temple and it ended up being the perfect day!  I loved that it was a little overcast and the clouds over the temple were perfect.  I love the peace that you feel on the grounds of the temple--it's definitely a holy place.

Oh my goodness--how cute is this little family?

Matt and I :)'s the whole group!  This is one of my favorite pictures--so great!

Watch this short video to learn about why Mormons build temples--they are so much more than just beautiful buildings.
And here are a few pictures from the temple grounds

After walking around the temple grounds and taking lots of pictures, we made our way to the Polynesian Cultural Center.  We walked the grounds, saw a couple shows, ate dinner, and then went to the main event: Breath of Life.  The show was incredible.  We sat there in awe the whole time.  The dancers were incredible, the music was amazing, and there was even some fire throwing etc.  The Polynesian Culture is so beautiful.

While we waited for the show to start we walked through the shops and Matt was kind enough to carry my purse for me.  It looks pretty good on him.

 The Hawaii moon

We snuck out before the show started to capture a few pictures of the temple at night.  It was tough to get good ones, but the temple looked gorgeous at night.

On Friday, we woke up, packed up our things and made our way to Pearl Harbor.

Stephie-Lynne and I as we were getting ready to leave the resort.  We're starting to look like we belong in Hawaii--now we just need to convince our husbands to take us back...

I'm so glad we were able to make it to Pearl Harbor--I'll never forget that part of the trip.

After walking around and seeing some of the mini exhibits, we took a ferry to see the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial.  It was so sad to think of all the men and women who lost their lives that day.

Right: Dad playing with some weapon or something--I can't remember what it was. :)
After our tour of Pearl Harbor we grabbed some dinner and made our way to the airport to catch our flight home.  The flight home was much less eventful, but we were so sad to leave this beautiful place behind.  Hopefully we can go back again someday.  Though, Matt is suddenly feeling appalled that he ever went in the water with all those sharks swimming around.  I'm not sure why he didn't think about that before now, it was on my mind the entire trip!
