Madelyn's Newborn Photos

We love our sweet little Madelyn. For months we had talked about what she would look like and Matt was positive that she would have dark hair. It turns out he was right! She has stolen our hearts already with her sweet spirit and cute personality. She already has lots of nick names including Maddie, Little B (of course), and Little One. We are in love with her and these newborn photos taken by the talented Jill Witt Photography.

It's Official...

I'm married to an attorney!  No, we didn't tie the knot today--that was 6.5 years ago, but he did get sworn in as an attorney today!  I'm so proud of him for all of his hard work.  It's been a long road, but well worth it.

Turning 25!

Birthdays are the best when celebrated for a few days...if not a whole week! :)  On the Friday before my birthday my co-workers threw me a little office party.  Jenna was asking me last week what I wanted for my birthday and I jokingly said, "One million dollars."  So she got me an ice cream cake with a million dollars on it!

How awesome is this cake?
Oh, the hat is some weird inside joke... ;)

Then, a sweet lady that I work with on campus brought this beautiful flower bouquet that was left over from an event.  It made my day--I LOVE tulips!

Later that evening, we had an office party in a box at the Notre Dame hockey game.  It was our first one and it was a blast!  I love the people I work with so it was fun to hang out with them.  Then you add AMAZING food, fun atmosphere, and an awesome hockey game.  It was a great night and a fun way to start off my birthday weekend.

On Saturday Matt took me to get an iPhone!!  :)  I have never had a smart phone and my phone has been acting up for a while so I was beyond excited!  We waited around at the store for a few hours--it was exhausting.  BUT we finally got my phone and I love it!

When we came home Matt made me my favorite Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches for dinner and we spent the night relaxing together.

On Sunday, my actual birthday, I slept in, woke up, and got ready for church.  Matt took a picture of me at 25!!  A quarter of a century!!  How did I get here? :)

After church we had more Philly Cheesesteak Sandwhiches for dinner and then it was time for cake.  Matt was so sweet to put candles in the cake and sing to me all by himself.  Here's to being 25!

5th Anniversary!!

May 2, 2013

Wow, I can't believe it's been 5 years!  Best 5 years of my life.  On our wedding day I never thought I could love him more, but everyday I love him more.  I feel so blessed to be married to such a fun, handsome, loving, kind, patient, sweet, cuddly, hard-working husband.  He is going to be the best dad in the world.  I love that guy.

Our actual anniversary always falls right before finals, so we just went to lunch together to celebrate on the day of.  It was perfect out and we enjoyed eating outside.

After finals, we were able to have a great evening celebration.  We used a gift card to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse and it was so fun to go to a fancy restaurant.  I could get used to that. ;)

I loved that they had this in our menus and the way they spelled our last name--priceless.

MMM... crab cakes.

Us at dinner.

Happy 5th Anniversary to us!  I'll keep him around for at least another 5. ;)

After dinner we came home and moved our air mattress into the family room to have a movie night.  This was one of the best nights ever.  We had the door open so there was a cool fresh breeze and we got to cuddle, eat treats, and watch our favorite TV shows all night.

We usually have a "no gifts" policy because we are saving everything for baby Purcell, but Matt surprised me with a little accessory. ;)  How sweet is this?

I'm so blessed.

A Surprise!

The other day while we were driving home from work/school Matt told me that he had a little surprise for me.  Anyone who knows me, knows I LOVE surprises. :)

So, when we got home Matt had me close my eyes and pulled these out of a bag.

He said they were on sale and he just couldn't resist.  I cried a little bit.  He's going to be the best dad. Ever.  He's so excited and I love it.  The other day he said that our kids are probably fighting over who gets to come first and that's why it's taking so long. :)  I love that man.

Date Night...On a Budget

Well, as you all know, Matt and I are saving like crazy (and getting lots of help from you!!) to become parents ASAP. :)  So... everything we do nowadays is on a pretty tight budget.  Maybe from now on all my post titles will be "Valentine's... On a Budget," "Birthday... On a Budget," "Anniversary... On a Budget," etc.

Just Kidding.  Though, it's a good thing that Matt and I are both pretty low maintenance, easy going people.  We both still have lots of clothes from High School (which Matt frequently reminds me, wasn't that long ago for me ;)) and we are both kind of homebodies!

Our all-time favorite date night includes buying a treat at the grocery store, making some yummy simple dinner together, getting in our comfies (sweats/yogo pants), and watching a couple episodes of a TV show we both love or reading a book together while cuddling or sprawled out on seperate couches.

Haagen-Dazs was SUPER cheap one night, so we bought two to share.  Add a couple episodes of Shark Tank and you've got a mighty fine date night!
These are simple times and I want to remember every second.

Kid-less Halloween

A few days before Halloween I asked Matt what we were going to do for Halloween and he said, "Halloween isn't fun unless you have kids."  Well, I'm always up for a challenge so I set out to prove him wrong.  :)  We LOVE the Harry Potter movies and I figured those were Halloweeny, so I borrowed those from a friend and we started a Harry Potter Marathon a few days before Halloween!
AND, what's a Harry Potter marathon without festive treats, candles, comfy sweats, and a Halloween coloring contest??

Apples with Caramel

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bread--my favorite!!

Matt Coloring Frankenstein

Me Coloring Witch Shoes and Tights :)

The Finished Products--boo yah!

And seriously, Halloween without dirt cups??  Impossible.

And last, but not least, comfy ND sweats and pumpkin ice cream!
*The Pumpkin Ice Cream wasn't our favorite.*

It's good I married my best friend or Halloween WOULD be lame without kids.  :)  So, here's to *hopefully* one of our last "kid-less" Halloweens!!  :)
