You Can’t Fake Authenticity: Love This!!

What is it about Sarah Palin that has gotten the liberal media’s knickers in a twist? Why are they criticizing, even mocking, everything from her hair to her faith?

She is exactly what the feminists claim to want and admire in women: strong, self-assured, a working mom, a political leader. But wait, she is a conservative Republican and because of that they hate her for displaying all of the aforementioned characteristics.

They are appalled that she would keep a Down Syndrome child when she could have aborted him. They are outraged when she speaks of God as if she knows Him, when their only acquaintance with the name is as a curse word, followed by “damn.” They are even disgusted that she has five children, as they think one (or two if you are Obama) is enough.

Sarah Palin is to the left what sunlight is to a vampire. Her high heels have knocked them back on the heels of their comfortable shoes.

She has galvanized and united the social and economic conservatives, when the left thought it saw an unbridgeable divide between the “oil and water” elements of the Republican Party.

The USA Today-Gallup Poll published Monday shows a ten point advantage for McCain-Palin among likely voters — the most important constituency. That is a remarkable turnaround when you consider Obama received an eight-point bounce from the Democratic Convention, which has now been wiped-out.

I think it has something to do with the fact that average people, who live in what the left thinks of as “flyover” country, identify with a woman who has an intact, yet imperfect family. They can visualize her pushing a grocery cart at the supermarket and shopping at Wal-Mart.

You can’t fake genuineness and if this trend continues, Obama and the entire Democratic Party — which thought it had this election in the bag — will be left to wonder over the next four years how they got their pockets picked by someone they arrogantly consider a yahoo from moose country.

so very true. I love that lady--she brings something new to the table that we haven't had ever. It will be a nice change for Washington if she makes it to the white house.

FRIEND!!! I miss you terribly. But I think you're wrong. Here's the problem I see as it is. I could care less how many children she chooses to have, which ones she decides to keep or whatever. The problem I see is the McCain camp saying "Oh, they want a woman huh?! We'll give them a woman!" Just because Palin has a uterus doesn't mean she the right candidate. I feel strongly that if the woman can't maintain what's going on in her household (see that unmarried pregnant daughter?) what's to say she can handle being the Vice President of the United States? That being said, A LOT of politicians have had children who make thier own bad choices. The Bush daughters, Chelsea and the list goes on and on for both sides of the political spectrum. Palin's experience is lacking. And no amount of good looks will make up for the fact that McCain has very high chances of dying while in office. Thanks, but no thanks. I don't want to see Palin take office because McCain dies. She's not got a critical enough experience. It's a dark thought, but the chances are high. Got to think ahead.

Jen - I don't know what your blog is or I would respond there. How can it be that you think the VP who MIGHT become president is unqualified - yet you are willing to vote for a man who WILL (IF he gets elected) be president and has FAR less qualifications than the woman running for VP on the Republican ticket!!! Lame argument my friend. The Democrats are afraid of Palin - as they should be.

Hey JenJen...
First of all...When did the McCain campaign say "Oh, they want a woman huh?! We'll give them a woman!" NEVER was said...so don't post YOUR THOUGHTS as things the McCain Campaign "Said". Next, Just because Palin "has a uterus" (as you put it..LOL) doesn't mean that she isn't the right candidate either! It is interesting to me how when a woman runs for a position people like you are so quick to judge her family, yet when it is a man...much much less IF ANY focus is put on the success & failures in his family. Also, since you insist on focusing on Palin as a mother Instead of as a VP candidate, maybe the reason you "feel strongly" is because you are uneducated and don't have any kids of your own...because if you did you would understand how being a mother works! I am a mother of FIVE and I remember the way I thought before I had kids..haha! I would be willing to bet you that once you have kids you will gain a greater understanding of what it takes to be a mother and your opinion will change! That being said...Palin is no different than any other politician, as YOU said there are A LOT of politicians whose children have all made their own bad choices...but Palin once again is being held to a different standard than anyone else?? Next, on the experience issue.... While she is 3 years younger then Obama, she already has more years of public service than Obama. Further, she actually has executive experience - something Obama AND Biden both lack. She also has accomplishments in the areas of ethics, energy and tax policy reform, and even running a private business. She governs the largest land-mass of any U.S. State, and more public land than any other state, and has experience commanding the Armed Forces of Alaska and dealing with foreign borders with Russia and Canada - again both Obama AND Biden lack experience in all these areas. Last year alone she implemented a $40 billion natural gas project to bring needed alternative energy sources to the United States. Something that Obama and Biden could only dream of. So if we are looking at the facts & "Thinking Ahead" I would say Palin IS more experienced than either Obama or Biden. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT!!

I would like to add that the media does not talk about the fact that Obama came from a single-teen aged mother which is interesting since they are bagging so much on Palin and her daughter. It completely negates the argument! Furthermore, I don't know why a one term senator, state legislator and community organizer have over a mayor and acting governor. As far as I'm concerned, the McCain/Palin campaign is way stronger and better founded that the Obama/Biden will ever be.

I agree...that is a GREAT Point Laura! Where is JenJen now!??

lol I'm right here Melissa... I have a couple of other things in life that pre-occupy my time. First, you're right. I haven't had children, and shocker, I don't want children. I know the heartache and trouble they can cause to a person's life. Children are meant to be in certain homes and not in others. I've accepted that. However, I fundamentally disagree with you that men in politics receive less family scrutiny. Wives are examined under close magnifying glasses as are children and cousins and uncles etc etc. I am not as you say "uneducated". In fact, I'm a nearing the end of my double major in Political Science AND English through the Honor's Program. I've been accepted to three graduate programs already and have been offered two fellowships. I wouldn't call any of that "uneducated".
As for your argument about Palin's experience with governing the "largest land mass of any US state", give me a break. Government protects land, but governs PEOPLE. The largest city in Alaska is a populous of just under 700,000 people. That ranks it in 47th place of 50. Really? Palin has more experience governing people? No. I don't care what you do with the caribou, it's people that are governed. As for this whole "dealing with foreign boarders" myth you republicans tell yourself. Do some reading. Russia hasn't been a threat in fifty years and their current social conditions won't allow them to be anytime soon. And as for Canada, it's been since the French Indian War. It's not like Palin looks out her window each morning and thinks "Gotta see what the ruskies are up to" before she takes her morning potty break. Oh, and for future notice, my facts can be found in scholarly articles, not on popular websites and television stations. Here's hoping your five kids grow up to be democrats and have conversations wherein they don't have to cut others down to attempt making a point :)
