Really?... Really?!

For those of you who know Matt you know that these are some of his favorite words to say (especially during catch phrase).  There are two parts to this story so listen up. :)

PART 1:
The other day Matt and I were driving up to the Jazz game - minding our own business might I add - when we get stuck behind this lady who was driving ridiculously.  She kept braking for no aparent reason when the car in front of her was at least 2 car lengths ahead.  For a minute I thought she was going to turn... but nope.  Then I realized that she was looking to her right every couple seconds at something in her hand... hmmm... what could it be?!  I said, "How much do you want to bet that she is texting?"  There were two lanes as we were waiting on the on ramp for the lights, so Matt said, "We have to get away from this lady."  Sure enough as we switched lanes and looked over at her she was using her cell phone.

But then it started to get REALLY bad.  She started keeping 4 or 5 car lengths between her and the car in front of her when there was a massive line behind her.  Then when she would look up she would barely pull forward and keep texting.  (This lady was probably in her early 50's and it looked like she was having a hard time texting in the first place).  I saw that her window was down so I said to Matt, "I'm sorry, but I HAVE to say something."  (Keep in mind that a guy Matt used to work with was recently hit by a girl who was texting and has been in a coma for 3 weeks).  So I wait and wait for her to finally get close enough - mean while I'm watching all the people behind her getting really frustrated.  I roll down my window and say, "Please don't text while you are driving, my friend is brain dead because someone was texting while they were driving."  (Ok, it was a little stretch, but he is a friend by association?...)  She looked like she felt like an idiot having someone call her out on it so I hope it changes her behavior in the future.

So, let me just say, I HATE when people text when they are driving and if you can't handle talking and driving at the same time DON'T.  Matt and I promise each other all the time that we won't text while driving, but I can't control you and if you kill my husband because you are texting and driving, I probably won't forgive you and then I'll go to hell - so PLEASE, if you do this STOP.  If this doesn't make you think twice before texting while driving you can read about how you can serve 15 years in prison for texting while driving if you get in an accident here.

PART 2:
Once we made it safely to Sandy we decided to ride trax because we didn't want to have to find a place to park once we got down there and we though because of traffic it might be a little quicker...?  We were riding along talking about our future (that's a different story for a different time), when all the sudden the train stopped abruptly.  I joked that the train director probably forgot he was supposed to stop here.  But then we realized that we were in the middle of the intersection...  It didn't feel like we hit a car, but then again would we feel that?  We would probably hear it for sure.  So then we started worrying that we hit SOMEONE.  All the cars at the intersection started turning around... then the fire truck showed up.  Not long after the ambulence came and out came the stretcher.

Then they made us all get off the train and wait for the next train which was actually a university train, so we had to make another transfer.  Needless to say I think we chose the wrong night to ride TRAX. You can read about the incident here.  I'm really glad that the lady was ok, but I hope she learned her lesson.  And for all you readers out there - since I know there are so many ;) - don't try to beat the train!  You will lose every time.

I'm definitely against texting while driving - I'm glad you reminded that lady! Public transportation isn't very luxurious, but it's nice to let someone else be the driver!

Good for you for saying something! I always want to, but never do. My husband is one that can't talk and drive at the same time, it drives me nuts when he tries!
