5th Anniversary!!

May 2, 2013

Wow, I can't believe it's been 5 years!  Best 5 years of my life.  On our wedding day I never thought I could love him more, but everyday I love him more.  I feel so blessed to be married to such a fun, handsome, loving, kind, patient, sweet, cuddly, hard-working husband.  He is going to be the best dad in the world.  I love that guy.

Our actual anniversary always falls right before finals, so we just went to lunch together to celebrate on the day of.  It was perfect out and we enjoyed eating outside.

After finals, we were able to have a great evening celebration.  We used a gift card to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse and it was so fun to go to a fancy restaurant.  I could get used to that. ;)

I loved that they had this in our menus and the way they spelled our last name--priceless.

MMM... crab cakes.

Us at dinner.

Happy 5th Anniversary to us!  I'll keep him around for at least another 5. ;)

After dinner we came home and moved our air mattress into the family room to have a movie night.  This was one of the best nights ever.  We had the door open so there was a cool fresh breeze and we got to cuddle, eat treats, and watch our favorite TV shows all night.

We usually have a "no gifts" policy because we are saving everything for baby Purcell, but Matt surprised me with a little accessory. ;)  How sweet is this?

I'm so blessed.

Happy 4.5 Years!!

Wow, I can't believe Matt and I have been married for 4.5 years (on Friday)!!  I guess time flies when you're having fun.  :)  It's only a half-anniversary, but to celebrate, I thought it would be fun to share some random facts about the MR., some random facts about the MRS., and then some random facts about US.  Plus, there might be a juice picture below, so stay tuned!! ;)

The MR.
1. He is the biggest BYU fan I know--it makes BYU games AWESOME to watch!  (i.e. his famous lines "Van Noy you STUD!!" or "NO WAY!!"  or "UNBELIEVABLE!")  Ask anyone who has ever watched a BYU sporting event with Matt and they'll tell you--he's kind of famous for this.  :)
2. His favorite month is October.
3. His favorite treat is frozen gummies.
4. His favorite pizza topping is pineapple.
5. He loves yummy smelling candles.
6. He's a bed hog (though, he would probably say the same about me ;)).
7. He LOVES little kids and can't wait to be a dad.
8. His favorite TV shows are Downton Abbey, Gilmore Girls, Lost, 24, and Pawn Stars.
9. He gets more excited about food than anyone I know.  It makes it so fun to cook for him because he doesn't just like something, he LOVES it!
10. He's a cuddler.

The MRS.
1. She hates waking up early and makes Matt get out of bed first and turn on the heater.
2. She eats breakfast in the bathtub every morning.
3. She only wears regular clothes to work--the rest of the time it's yoga pants and t-shirts.
4. She loves to cook and likes to bake too.
5. Her favorite TV shows are Downton Abbey, Parenthood, and Gilmore Girls.
6. She has never had braces or worn a retainer.
7. She washes her feet a couple times per day--Matt makes fun of her every time.
8. She has to have a clean house and can be a little too particular about things sometimes.
9. She works as an assistant to the Dean of science at Notre Dame--but she doesn't really know anything about science--she loves her job.
10.  She can fall asleep anywhere.  She frequently takes 20-30 minute naps on her lunch break by laying on the floor in the law school somewhere.

MR. & MRS.
*Matt will KILL me for posting this totally posed kiss because he despises PDA. :)  Oh well.*

1. They love to play Lego Harry Potter on the xbox.
2. They like staying home, eating good food, and watching a movie more than going out.
3. They have infertility but they're gonna kick it's butt.
4. They each have a 2 liter water bottle in the fridge that they drink from each day.
5. They are working to maintain a good exercise routine.
6. Stephanie almost broke up with Matt while they were dating, but he talked her out of it--that was when they knew he would make a great attorney! ;)  (Stephanie's glad he talked her out of it).
7. They've lived in four different apartments in three different cities.
8. They've never been on a honeymoon!  Heck, the only trip they've been on with just the two of them is the one that brought them to South Bend!  They're ok with it, though--they are saving all their money to start a family.  :)
9.  Together they've had 8 jobs!!
10.  They've been married 4.5 years!  4.5 down only 5 more to go!  jk.  ;)  Here's to eternity!

4th Anniversary Celebration

Our anniversary celebration was amazing.  Matt was done with finals so we had a nice, stress-free weekend all to ourselves.  Matt surprised me on Friday, May 11 by taking me to Buffalo Wild Wings (may not sound romantic, but it's my favorite so it was).  We went to the Meijer to get some treats for the night, and to the mall to pick out something new.  Then we went to our favorite little movie theater where we saw The Avengers while eating buttery popcorn, sprite, and candy.  On Saturday we got some groceries and did some cooking together--one of our favorite things.  We relaxed, watched movies, went for a walk, and took naps.  It was the perfect weekend.

Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures of the actual celebrations and it's kind of tradition to have a picture of us on our anniversary, so we took one on Sunday instead.

Here's Matt being a good sport while I set it up.  :)  LOVE him.

And here's us on (or near ;)) our 4th Anniversary.

SO glad I married this man 4 years ago!

4 YEARS down, forever to go!

I can't believe it has been 4 years since I married the love of my life.  It may sound cliche, but I really do love him more everyday.  Here are a few things I'm particularly loving right now:

1. Matt works SO hard.  He studies so much and yet still finds time to spend with me.  I'm so proud of him.
2. When Matt doesn't stay up late studying, we get to go to bed at the same time.  I love the cuddle/pillow talk time we share.  Best part of my day.
3. Watching the "tennis balls" (more on this later ;)) and bunny rabbits.
4. Eating good food with Matt is the best because when he likes something he REALLY likes it and shows it.  This also makes cooking a blast because he LOVES the results.
5. Eating lunch together everyday--it's a perfect way to break up the day.

I can't wait to celebrate our anniversary in a week or two when things slow down.  It's going to be an all out party because he'll also be done with his first year of law school!  (One down, two to go)!  Until then, here's a little timeline of our anniversaries together. :)

Happy Anniversary Love! :)

Matt and I had our 1st anniversary on Saturday! :) We spent the entire weekend celebrating... so here is a play by play!

Thursday we went grocery shopping and got lots of yummy food to eat and snacks to snack on :) This always feels good!

Friday morning we slept in... and by slept in I mean we didn't wake up until almost 11! Then we made this delicious breakfast... mmmm...

Here is Matt eating his breakfast first thing in the morning - and he still looks good! haha... notice there aren't any pictures of me :)

After we got ready we went to the school to sell Matt's books back (what a joke! that's a story for another time :))

Then we went to Starbucks for yummy pastries and juice.... I had a cheese danish... if I had the car right now I would go get one for sure... I can't stop thinking about it.

Then we went shopping with the intention of finding Matt some new clothes... but of course while he is trying clothes on I always wander to my side of the store... hehe But we had fun just taking our time and we got lots of fun things :)

Our bags :)

Then we went and got pizzas from our favorite pizza place - Papa Johns - here is the box. haha

And of course dinner was served with the famous Pomegranate Lemonade! Mmmmm....

Then we spent the rest of the night snuggled up with our blankets and pillows doing our favorite thing - watching movies at home! We watched Twilight, then gilmore girls.... and Matt wanted to watch Twilight again so he did.... the next day he fast forwarded to all of his favorite parts before they took it off our pay per view... This made me happy. It makes life SO much easier when you both enjoy some of the same things :)

Saturday morning we slept in again! Then after getting ready and grabbing some break fast we had BIG plans for the day. We were going to go for a walk up the canyon, play tennis, go to the Jordan River temple and go to gateway and eat at the same restaurant we went to before Matt proposed. Then go up to draper to see all the city lights like we did the night he proposed... BUT It was raining - kind of ruled out the tennis and canyon part and the temple would be really busy on Saturday morning and we had been shopping the day before so we decided to stay down here :) and we went shopping... haha doesn't really make sense I know but it was fun! haha Then we went to Olive Garden for an early dinner around 3 so that we wouldn't have to wait forever! :) Then we came home and watched our wedding dvd - it was really cool to watch again and I can't believe it was a year ago! Then we danced for a while and watched more movies :)

Matt and I on our first anniversary!

P.S. I LOVE this restaurant!

Our bags from the second day of shopping! I made out with 2 skirts, 5 shirts, and a pair of shoes. Matt found 6 or 7 shirts :) It was fun and a much better way to spend money than on a hotel!

6 Month Anniversary!

Well it was 6 months ago yesterday that I made the best decision of my life! :) I love Matthew so much and he brings so much joy into my life! Every day is exciting and fun living with my best friend :) I love going home everyday and I feel safe every night sleeping next to him. Mmmm... and he lets me warm up my cold feet on him :) Ok enough gushiness :)

Candle Light Dinner :)

Matt and I at dinner :)

Mmm.... Creamy chicken, rice and carrot soup, bum rolls (hehe they are two Rhodes frozen rolls in a muffin tin :), and corn. It was so yummy! You can find the recipe for this soup on my sisters recipe blog.

For dessert we had dirt cups... fancy I know - they were really good though :)

5 MonthS! :)

We made the best decision of our lives 5 months ago today! :) It has gone by so fast - but at the same time it seems like we have known each other forever! We recently passed the one year mark since our first date last September 27th! It seems like just yesterday that we made the somewhat awkward drive to the Hale Center Theater in West Jordan to see The Secret Garden - a play I had already seen just a few days before, and one that he was hardly interested in watching. I don't think either of us expected a 2nd date... but one thing led to another and here we are! I altered a few of our wedding pictures and I'm going to post them just for fun - even though I know you have seen plenty! What's a blog post without pictures anyway?

The one above is my favorite! I think I'll print it :)

3 Months!!!

We have been married for 3 months today! :) It's weird cause it seems like we have been married forever! 3 months isn't very long but it's a pretty big marker, that's 1/4 of a year :) haha. Anyway we are enjoying the married life and we are pretty excited for school to start in a few weeks but we have a lots of fun things planned before then! :) Stay tuned :)

2 Months! :)

Well, we have now been officially married for 2 months! :) It has been wonderful! Matt has a golf tournament tonight, so we celebrated on Monday night by ordering pizza and renting a movie. It was nice and relaxing :) Last night we went to the temple and then went to bed early - it was SO nice. This morning I woke up with a splitting head ache. I woke up Matt - poor guy - to tell him I had a horrible head ache and he spent the next half hour taking care of me. He then gave me a blessing - I feel so blessed to have the priesthood in our home. He then got up with me and made my lunch so I wouldn't have to get out of bed as early. I headed to work and even though Matt didn't have to go to work for a few hours he stayed up to clean the apartment so I don't have to do it after work... I feel like the luckiest girl in the world! I couldn't ask for a better husband and I'm so glad I married him 2 months ago :)

One Month!

A part of me can't believe that we have already been married for a month, while another part of me feels like we have been married forever. Life is good being married and everyday I look forward so much to going home to be with my best friend. I have been running quite a bit lately, and Matt runs with me sometimes. Next Saturday we are running a 5k race with my mom who is training for a marathon at the moment - Crazy Lady! :) I'm following the same training program, but I just started so I won't be running the same marathon she runs, but that is my eventual goal. Matt and I are also very into lost these days. We borrowed the 1st and 2nd season dvd's, but the third season we have been watching online. Only problem is that depending on the night our internet can be slow and so it pauses every couple of seconds. Now this is extremely frustrating - but because lost is so amazing, we just can't seem to stop watching it.

This week has been an interesting one - so I thought I would do a little re-cap :)

MONDAY at lunch I was following my usual routine. I got my lunch and walked to my car to eat my lunch and take my regular 45 minute nap - this will not work when it starts getting hot outside. I opened the passengar door and put my purse, notebooks and lunch on the seat. Then I leaned over and turned the key just far enough to turn on the radio and roll the windows down... but I didn't roll the windows down. Now normally I would reach over and unlock the driver door and then walk around. Though this time I didn't. I decided I should lock the passenger door so I didn't have to worry about doing it later. Just before I closed the door I had this strange feeling that maybe I should eat and sleep in the passengers seat today... but I didn't listen and I shut the door. Locking my keys, purse, books and lunch in the car. Not to mention the car was half-on. I called Matt who laughed and said he would come get me after work with the spare - Until I told him it was half-on. Then he said I better call the police to come open it because it would kill the battery. I called the police and they told me to wait by my car. After waiting for what seemed like an eternity, a cop car pulled up and I felt like I was in trouble. You know that feeling you get when your little and your caught doing something you're not supposed to? That's how I felt. Well he was really nice about it but after trying for about 20 minutes he couldn't get it open. Matt asked if he was retarded. I love my husband - but he has very little patience sometimes. Normally Matt could have left work to come bring the spare, however today he had driven to work with his buddy and so he was kind of stuck there. Well I was a little frustrated and light headed because I hadn't eaten and I hadn't had my nap. After work Matt came and unlocked my car. When I turned the key there was nothin'. So we hooked up the jumper cables and for some reason Matt looked at the directions - guys never look at the directions. And it said to never connect negative to negative but to put one on the bolt beside the battery. Well we tried and tried and tried but my car just WOULD NOT start. Matt thought the battery was completely dead and we would have to buy a new one. However after calling his dad we realized that maybe the directions were wrong and after connecting negative to negative it started right up. So we spent our one month anniversary jumping my car. Matt was a little disappointed because he had something planned for when I got home from work but it kind of got ruined by the car problems. We decided to celebrate on Friday night for date night instead.

Tuesday went a lot better. After work I met Matt and his family at Applebee's for dinner to celebrate Stacey's graduation from high school. Dinner was delicious and after we spontaneously decided to go and see Iron Man. It was really good, and Matt loved it which makes it even more fun for me.

Wednesday we had a couple in our ward - Jason and Melissa - over for Fajitas. She brought guacamole and delicious cookies! The food was very good, but I vowed never to eat again after that meal because I ate so much!... I ate the next morning.

Thursday Matt went to play halo with his friend Kenny. I went running - which felt so good. Then I came home and cleaned and showered. I was going to dry my hair but Matt came home and insisted that we watch lost and I pull my hair up. haha. I miss him when he is gone - but all he wants to do is play and it makes it hard for me to get things done. But when it comes down to it I think spending time together is far more important than drying my hair, making the bed, or cleaning the kitchen floor. :)

Friday - Well that's today! After work Matt and I are going to have date night. He has a surprise planned and we are going to eat left over Fajita's so I don't have to cook and then we will probably watch lost and go for a walk. Just relax :)

Saturday morning we will go running. Then we need to print thank you cards and start the huge job of sending them all out :) Saturday night our ward has a BBQ and then Stephanie (My sister-in-law) Ashley and I are going to have a girls night while the guys play halo or some other video game I'm sure. We will probably rent/go to a chick-flick and eat lots of chocolate and talk :)

Sunday will be relaxing and I am going to attempt making a new soup using a ham bone... we will see how it goes! :) So that's a week in the lives of Matt and Stephanie :)

2 weeks! :)

Well, we have now been married for 2 weeks! We just got the official marriage certificate in the mail yesterday, so now comes all the fun name changing chores hehe. Life is good! Matt and I had our first official married date night last night. I made dinner, Matt wanted grill cheese and tomato soup... easy to please :) While I made dinner he set up the TV. After dinner we watched our wedding video. Then we got tons of blankets and pillows and and laid on the floor to watch 4 episodes of lost (we are kind of obsessed at the moment) and eat lots of otter-pops. So it was a pretty laid back first date night, but it was fun to take a break and spend some one-on-one time together :) And we both agreed that Thursday nights are now our favorite nights of the week. We are getting more settled into our apartment and I decided that I should take some pictures and post them on here so you can see how it's coming :) Well apart from all that we are just working and partying all summer :) The weather is getting so nice and I couldn't ask for a better husband or best friend! :)

Married life :)

Well, we got married on May 2nd, and it was AMAZING! It snowed the day before, but it was just perfect the day we got married. The snow in the mountains made for beautiful pictures and the tulips were perfect! You can watch our same-day-edit video by visiting: http://web.mac.com/happilyeverafterdvd/Happily_Ever_After_Video_Blog/Happily_Ever_After_Video_Samples/Entries/2008/5/3_Jordan_River_Spring_Same_Day_Edit.html
We had such a wonderful day and we were overwhelmed with outpouring of love and support we recieved from our family and friends. There were so many people who came to show their love and support and so many who helped and made everything run smoothly, so that I could just relax! So we need to get some pictures on here, I promise they are coming :) We have just been so busy unpacking, getting settled into our new place and going back to work. I started a new job at Lexis Nexis doing background checks. It's been really nice because we both get off work at 5 pm, so we just come home, make dinner and party all night! We have loved living near James (Matt's Brother) and Stephanie. We play with them almost every night and one of our recent favorite activities is playing killer bunnies. It's an amazing card game. So life is great! Just living with my best friend, working all day and partying all night :) It's going to be an amazing summer :) Well I'll post new pictures soon! :)
