Maxi Skirt

I have been struggling with blogging lately.  I think it's because it's just easy to post something on facebook and then I feel like I already posted about it there and I don't need to do it here.  But, this is more like a journal.  I like being able to go back and see what we've been up to over the years and you can't really do that on facebook.  So, I apologize if some of the stuff I post here is a repeat from facebook. :)

When I found this EASY tutorial for a maxi skirt I thought, "Hey, I could totally make that!" :)  I didn't really expected it to turn out as well as it did.  I wore it the day after I made it and swore to never wear anything else again because it is so comfortable!!  I may be make a few more of these in the near future.

Green Thumbs??

So Matt and I have never really grown anything before, but this year we decided it would be really fun to grow a couple things on our deck.  Who knew we had such a knack for gardening!? ;) 

We each got a pot and I decided to grow basil in mine... yum!

Matt wanted to grow cayenne peppers in his pot.

They aren't red yet, but one of them is pretty big.  :)

I think what we grew in our pots says a lot about us--especially Matt.  I love that he chose cayenne peppers because he is always trying to sneak cayenne into my spaghetti sauce.

Hey, I Didn't Pass Out!

I think I forgot how much I love to read!!  It's been months since I picked up a good book and let it pull me in.  Within the first couple of pages this book had me in its grasp.  I was turning off the TV to pick up my book.  When I wasn't reading I was thinking about it.  I finished it in 5 days and the second book is on its way!!  The only drawback was the violence, yuck.  But, as long as I just skimmed or skipped those parts I was able to read it without passing out (unlike Breaking Dawn where I literally had my head between my knees during the half-baby, half-vampire birthing scene).  I'm usually the last person to read these popular series like Twilight, and Harry Potter, but if you haven't read the Hunger Games, I highly recommend it.

What I've Been Up To

I recently designed some labeling/packaging for my photo discs and I think they turned out pretty cute, so I thought I would share. :)

My Expensive Hobby:

I had my MRI today. It was quite the experience! I found out last minute that I had to get an IV - this was probably a good thing, or I would have been freaking out about it all day! I was pretty nervous since I've never had one before. He put the entire IV in only to find out it wasn't in my vein... so he had to do it all over again and I still didn't pass out :) I'm pro at this now. Matt was able to come in with me though for the entire thing! It was kind of relaxing being in there though, except I could feel that piece of plastic in my arm the whole time. I'm glad to have it over with and we should have the results by Thursday.

Adventurous Date Night :)

For Date Day/Night on Saturday Matt and I relaxed and watched Gilmore girls in the afternoon. Then we took an excursion to JoAnn's for Fabric... my husband is so patient :) haha We actually had TONS of fun shopping for fabric for my latest obsession / hobby - baby quilts. Matt was getting really excited and was a good sport. He even had a teenage girl come up to him and say, "You are the only guy in here so can I ask your advice? I'm making a blanket for my boyfriend so, if a girl made you a blanket would you want these colors or these ones?" Who would have thought that Matt, pretty much the biggest guys guy ever, would get asked for advice in a craft store!? haha That cracked me up :) The fabric was such a good price! We only paid $2.50 a yard for flannel :) So we bought enough fabric for 7 blankets! And we got batting and Thread all for about 75 dollars! Considering I paid almost $45 for the last ONE, that was a steal!

We were planning on going to Target to get a few things after ward but we were shopped out! So we decided to go for dinner, I really wanted Gandolfo's and wouldn't settle for anything else... nothing else sounded good to me. We weren't sure if they would still be open but decided it was worth a try. For some reason didn't realize how far down it was on center street so we ended up walking 5 block in the snow, but it was actually really fun and quite the adventure. We were sure we were going to get there and find that it was closed... but it was open! We went in and ordered our food. We decided on breakfast sandwiches so we ordered 3 polo grounds, 2 for Matt and 1 for me :) If you know what those are they are sandwiches made of egg, bacon and lots of melted cheese with salt and pepper on an AMAZING poppy seed bun :) Something happened and their electricity on their grill went out so it took a really long time to get our food. We just enjoyed sitting a talking. When our food was finally done they had run out of the amazing buns and instead stuck them on normal buns :( But she gave us two free drinks to make up for it... then we started eating our sandwiches and there was no cheese on them! I really like Gandolfo's but they must have been having a bad night! I was really nice about it but I went and told her that there was no cheese on our sandwiches but that we didn't really want to wait again for our food so I asked if we could just get our money back. She was really nice about it and apologized and gave us all of our money back... Matt was pretty proud of me... for some reason he thinks I don't do that sort of thing normally? haha He is always trying to get me to return things / stand up for myself... to which he beams with pride... little does he know I do it on my own haha So we then made the long trek to our car with free food and drinks in hand - Matt was pretty happy about this and insisted that I blog about it :) We then brought our food home and put cheese on it and put it in the oven and ate it :) It wasn't quite as good, but hey it was free and Matt thought it tasted better... haha We then watched the BYU basket ball game and the really cheesy hallmark Christmas movie that we rented from Blockbuster :) I included some pictures below :)

I Finally Finished It! :)

So remember months and months ago when I bought fabric to make a baby quilt.... well I finished it! haha Now you can see why I'm starting now ;) I actually just recently started it. I cut the fabric just when ever I got a chance. But then on Friday night while Matt was having a guys night I watching Gilmore Girls and Sewed/Cut the entire thing! :) Needless to say my back was a little sore from all that sewing, but it was fun and turned out really cute :) - if I say so myself! I keep pulling it out of the closet and making Matt admire it with me, then I make him feel how soft it is against his face - he humors me. Here is the blanket from all angles:

Oh ya, I'm not really supposed to say this but Matt likes watching Gilmore Girls with me and when I watch it without him he makes me fill him in on what happened :)

My Latest Hobby:

So I picked embroider up on Tuesday night.... I finished this one on Thursday and I'm starting a new one today :) I'm going to use them as the front of pillows - so that's my next project - turning these into cute pillows... I'll post them when their done :)
